The key points to be considered during the operation of a chiller unit as follows:
Temperature and pressure of the chilled water at the inlet and outlet of the evaporator
Temperature and pressure of the cooling water at the inlet and outlet of the condenser
Pressure and temperature of the refrigerant in the evaporator
Pressure and temperature of the refrigerant in the condenser
Current and voltage of the main motor
Pressure and temperature of the lubricating oil
Smooth operation of the compressor unit and detection of any abnormal sounds
Checking for leaks in various valves and ensuring tight connections of water pipes
Additionally, attention should be paid to certain visual indicators of the chiller unit. For example, the occurrence of frost on the suction pipe of the compressor indicates excessive refrigeration capacity, low evaporator temperature, low suction pressure, and low superheat for the compressor. In the case of piston and screw-type units, this can lead to "liquid hammer."
